A wedding is such a special time for you and your fiance as it marks the first page in your new chapter together. So choosing where to have your special day can be difficult as there is a whole host of wedding venues available to choose from.
As a professional wedding photographer I have had the pleasure of visiting a variety of wedding venues both in the UK and internationally. Within this article I will be discussing my favourite international wedding location Crete.
My Connection to Crete:
Greece holds such a special place in my heart, as I married my now husband Elliot at a venue in Greece in 2022. I was lucky enough to witness firsthand how incredible it is to say “I do” in such a magic and special place, surrounded by all our loved ones, it was a dream come true.
After falling in love with the country we decided to take a leap of faith and move to Crete for a year which gave me an appreciation for the beauty and romance of the destination. Although we now are living back in the UK in Leicestershire we have dreams of returning to Greece and still have connections to Crete.
During our yearly visits to I am a dedicated volunteer at a dog rescue shelter based in Crete called Souda Shelter project. When volunteering I spend the morning or afternoon with the dogs, helping to clean their pens, feeding the dogs and socialising with them to prepare them for adoption.

Agreco Farm:
This venue particularly holds a special place in my heart as this is where I had my own wedding! And I have been back there since to photograph other’s weddings!
The venue is rustic with traditional aspects that embrace Greek tradition! This romantic venue has a cute little chapel, vineyard and taverna onsite that you can use as part of your special day. The food is all organic and it actually won ‘Best organic restaurant’ one year in Vanity Fair! It’s just perfect!But it’s super popular so make sure you book your date plenty in advance!

Dourakis Winery:
This iconic winery and vineyard opened in 1988 and is family run. It has magnificent surroundings including a rustic garden, the glorious Cretan mountains, wildflower meadow, and the vineyard. This peaceful and romantic venue serves organic wines created onsite for a truly authentic Greek experience- and trust me! These wines are good! I know from first hand experience!

Reveli Venue:
This luxury venue is super trendy and is privately located on the Kalathas cliff in Chania, where the deep blue of the sea combined perfectly with the terrific Cretan landscape.
The Reveli Wedding Venue and Villas is able to host large or smaller-scale events, with outdoor spaces, selected services and a variety of menus to savor this lifetime experience. So if you fancy a beach wedding or a wedding on the lawn overlooking the sea, or even a santorini-esque balcony style wedding, it has different options available!!-Dreamy!!
